Why a holistic approach to career change is required.

It’s not enough just to focus on your job and work when creating change in your career.

We’re not segmented beings.

We can’t work solely in isolation on one part of ourselves/life without also looking into and focusing on other connected parts of ourselves/life.

I see people make this mistake quite often.

They think that to create change in their career, they must focus solely on their career.

Obviously some focus needs to be on their career (lol). But taking a more holistic approach is going to ensure you create meaningful, long-term and sustainable change.

Everything is connected - we are the sum of ALL our parts.

Aristotle anyone?

When working with clients on their career, I support them to also focus on their routine, lifestyle, mindset and relationships. I often receive feedback that the mindset/routine work involved in coaching was not what they anticipated, but is often labeled as one of the key highlights of our work together.

Build our self-worth outside of our job = our self-worth increases in our job.

Remember - we are connected, everything is connected.

Let’s take ‘routine’ for example…

In my first corporate job I used to roll out of bed 10 minutes before I was due to leave to catch my bus.

Cue: *nervous system overload*

In my mind, I thought I was doing the ‘right thing’ by ensuring I got ‘as much sleep as possible’. However I left disheveled and in a rush and arrived at work (you guessed it…) disheveled and in a rush.

While yes my job wasn’t aligned, this routine did NOTHING for my energy, productivity or overall mental health. And this morning routine made my job worse than what it was.

So take a holistic approach.

Focus and work on all areas of your life (i.e. routine).

It is far more likely to guarantee you sustainable and meaningful change in your career. ❤️

I believe in you!
